Strain wave gears are characterised by absolute zero backlash, excellent repeatability, and high torque capacity, all with small dimensions and low weight.
Nabtesco can also design all strain wave gears individually and tailor their performance, geometry, materials, interfaces, and gearbox properties precisely to your application, including function, component, and system integration if required.
This means that you do not have to compromise on the design of your machine or robot.
Nabtesco’s motto: It is not the application that has to be adapted to the gearbox, but the gearbox to the requirements.
Nabtesco’s strain wave gears redefine quality, flexibility, availability and integration and give you maximum design freedom. Strain wave gears redefine humanoid robotics and automation.
Strain Wave Gears Features
- Adjustable backdriving torque, e.g. very low for cobots, high for chassis.
- Adaptation of torsional rigidity to your control systems and requirements.
- Maintenance-free over the entire service life.
- Higher economic efficiency possible through material selection and process adaptations, automotive DNA.
- Higher dynamic torques compared to conventional strain wave gears, keyword Super High Torque.
- Better efficiency than with conventional strain wave gears.
- Cross-size integration through combination of different components.
- Torque capacity is higher compared to conventional strain wave gears.
- Operating temperature: -20 °C to +70 °C.
- 100 % traceability.
Strain Wave Gears Structure
- The wave generator is usually the drive element of the gearbox. It is inserted into the flex spline so that the teeth of the flex spline and circular spline mesh.
- The output can be via the flex spline or the circular spline.
- The external toothing of the flex spline has two teeth less than the internal toothing of the circular spline, thus enabling a transmission ratio.
